'Stay' started as a simple breaks-plus-sample hip-hop idea, but as I fell deeper into the production process, a narrative arc emerged that made it feel more like a proper song. The vocals share a vibe with my recent tracks 'Heartbeats' and 'Cathedral,' but here they take center stage and tell the story. I feel like this track connects a thread between my newer music, which is more dance-focused, and my sound from a few years ago, which was more atmospheric, introspective and downtempo.

'Stay' comes from the heartache of wanting someone to remain, and the little bit of freedom that comes from letting go. 🖤
